Analysis of serum DNA to predict response to chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

Institution: Dept. of Gynaecological Oncology, University College London Hospital

Address:
United Kingdom
Huntley Street
WC1E 6DH, London

Open until: October 19, 2008

Description: Changes in DNA methylation are enormously common in cancer. In the past we have described that hypermethylation can be detected in tumor-derived DNA found in the serum and plasma of patients with cancer. In breast cancer we found that seroconversion of DNA methylation is a useful marker to monitor systemic therapy. We have now established a technology which allows us to analyze more than 27.000 CpGs in 0.5 mL serum. We are just about to start a project which uses this technology to monitor ovarian cancer therapy

Tumour site: ovary/tube
